چکیده

This paper represents a genetic algorithmic approach to the congestion aware routing problem in Mobile Ad hoc Networks. Variable-length chromosomes (strings) and their genes (parameters) are the sources for encoding the problem. The crossover operation exchanges partial chromosomes (partial routes) and the mutation operation maintains the genetic diversity of the population. The proposed congestion aware routing fitness function algorithm is capable of curing all the infeasible chromosomes with an adaptive repair function. The congestion aware fitness function gives an improved quality of solution and enhanced rate of convergence. The performance metrics throughput, packet delivery ratio and delay are taken into account for computer simulations which shows the proposed algorithm exhibits a much better quality of solution (congestion aware routing) and a much higher rate of convergence than other conventional algorithms in mobile ad hoc networks. © 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd. Improving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...

E-CARP: efficient-Cross Layer Congestion Control Adaptive Routing Protocol for Mobile Ad hoc Networks in Constrained Environment

Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) shows unexpected behavior when multiple data streams with heavy traffic load such as multimedia data and data is sent to common destination. The main reason for packet loss in mobile ad hoc networks is due to congestion. In the current design, the routing protocols are not congestion adaptive. The way in which the congestion is handled results in longer delay and...

A New Routing Algorithm for Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks based on Glowworm Swarm Optimization Algorithm

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are a particular type of Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) in which the vehicles are considered as nodes. Due to rapid topology changing and frequent disconnection makes it difficult to design an efficient routing protocol for routing data among vehicles. In this paper, a new routing protocol based on glowworm swarm optimization algorithm is provided. Using the g...

Energy Efficient Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks by Using Honey Bee Mating Optimization

Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...
